What is The Mulligan Therapy and how does it work?
The concept is used by specialists around the world for more than 50 years, so its effectiveness and efficiency has been proven many times in practice.

The Mulligan Therapy is one of the most popular types of manual therapy. It was developed by New Zealand physiotherapist Brian Mulligan. The concept is used by specialists around the world for more than 50 years, so its effectiveness and efficiency has been proven many times in practice.

The most important advantage of this concept is that while performing manipulations, a physio therapist uses the biomechanics of the joints. When the Mulligan concept therapy is prescribed for a patient, the patient gets the following:

  • rapid elimination of pain that previously manifested itself during training, running;

  • complete painlessness of the procedure itself;

  • restoration and increase in the range of motion of the rehabilitated joint.

An undeniable advantage (compared to other techniques) is that the patient can get the immediate pain relief.

The fundamental principle of the Mulligan concept is the mobilization of joints through movement. If other methods offer to immobilize the patient and carry out passive manipulations, then Mulligan offers a fundamentally new approach. If a patient has received a sports injury or is experiencing constant pain when performing certain exercises, then the physio therapist will look for a position in which the movement of the joint will not be accompanied by discomfort. In fact, the specialist will try to align the joints.

Even 2-3 procedures will allow:

  • eliminate musculoskeletal pain that appeared during and after physical exercises;

  • get rid of edema in the area of the joints;

  • recover quickly from sports injuries;

  • re-learn how to perform exercises that were previously performed incorrectly and therefore brought pain;

  • cope with many other physical deseas.
